I’ve been writing a good number of articles for Newcity Stage recently. So, in order for you to be able to keep up with my thoughts on the shows that I see for them, I post a link here and also assign each production a Ten-Word Summary and a Dice Rating. Enjoy!
As any freelance writer can tell you, we’ll take any gig we can get. So, when I review a show for another media outlet, I put a link to it here because I want to share it with you. And because I want to give you a little extra something, I add a Ten-Word Summary and a Dice Rating, too:
I often write for other media outlets, and when I do, I post a link here to the review so you can see it, and so I can add to it. You know that it’s the Ten-Word Summary and the Dace Rating that really matter:
I review plays. Sometimes I review plays for other places. When I do, I post a link to those reviews right here. And, I add a Ten-Word Summary and Dice Rating, too. Think of it as added value for stopping by my site first.
When I review a show for one of the other media outlets, I also include a link to that review here so you can access all my critical writings in one place. I also add a Dice Rating and a Ten-Word Summary.
Over the last two years, I have been reviewing more and more often for other media outlets. When I do, I still link the other reviews here so you can read all of my writing in one convenient place. Also, I give them a brand-spanking-new Ten-Word Summary and a Dice Rating, because that’s how I roll!
When I write a review for any site other than this one, I post a link to that review and add a Ten-Word Summary and Dive Rating for your enjoyment:
- “Gone Dark” (Otherworld Theatre)
- Ten-Word Summary: One man struggles with his inner demons and outer vampires.
- Dice Rating: d8 – “Not Bad, Not Great.”
I review shows for this site, and also for other sites. When I review for someone else, I post a link to that review here. I also add a Ten-Word Summary and a Dice Rating so that it feels like home.
- “Chapter Two” (Windy City Playhouse)
- Ten-Word Summary: Seventies romantic comedy has many laughs and phones with cords.
- Dice Rating: d12 – “Heckuva Good Show”
Most freelance theatre critics have to write for multiple media outlets. When I do, I make sure to post the resulting review here as well, so you can see it, and then compare the resulting thoughts with the other shows that I’ve reviewed over the years. Also, I like to give every show I see a Dice Rating and a Ten-Word Summary!
- Design for Living
- Ten-Word Summary: Noël Coward’s smart and sassy threesome is hilarious and relevant.
- Dice Rating: d20 – “One of the Best”
As always, I’ve been writing for other media outlets again. Here’s a review I wrote to Newcity Magazine. Also, I bestow on you a 10-Word Summary and a Dice Rating applied here for the very first time for your enjoyment.
