Links to Reviews: “Dorian” (The House Theatre) and “The Way West” (Steppenwolf) – CenterstageChicago.com

As promised, when I review a show over at CenterstageChicago.com, I’ll put the link on this site so you can go read what I’ve had to say over there.

This entry encompasses two of the bigger productions that are open right now.  One is quite successful, the other is not.

What I’ve learned this week is that it is actually harder for me to write reviews about the shows that are really spectacular than shows at the other end of the spectrum.

So, here we go…

A quick comment on The Way West.  I almost gave this my d4 rating.  Perhaps I should have.  Some of the tickets for this thing cost $78 per seat.  If I’d paid $150+ for my wife and myself to see this show, I would be livid.  At the $20 discount rate that Steppenwolf frequently offers, I would have still been disappointed, but not felt ripped-off.  There’s that.

As promised, whenever I write a review of at CenterstageChicago.com, I’ll post the link here.  You can take in what I’ve said over there, if you wish.  I really like the challenge of giving my concise thoughts on shows.  My editor at Centerstage allows me approximately 300 words.  I try to make brevity the soul of my work on that site:
